Combined efficiency and benefits of three alternative thermo-chemical technologies and engineering systems and a few advanced ceramic products resulting in significantly cleaner and high profitable

Some specialists define a ‘revolutionary engineering technology’ as one which provides >2x better efficiency or cost/performance ratio or consumable quality characteristics and that have related technological analogies or their products. RCC, 3G HTS, and TCM-MSW technologies and products sure meet this criterion.   


The newly created RCC, 3G HTS-wire, and TCM-MSW technologies and their advanced products were produced and tested in our lab, validated in experiments and by qualified experts, discussed in published peer-reviewed journals and proceedings and patented in the US and internationally. We produced and tested prototypes of RCC and 3G HTS advanced products, as well as prototypes of technological systems.


Environmental, economic and technical advantages and benefits of the implementation and commercialization of RCC, 3G HTS-wire and TCM-MSW technologies include:

The US annually generates and uses about 28,500 Billion kWh of energy, including ~11,500 Billion kWh of electrical energy or 40% of the total energy. Taking into account GHG-free nuclear and hydro-power and other growing clean energy sources, the electricity generation industry is responsible for 32% of GHG emissions in the US.  The rest of GHG emission comes from vehicles, transportation, chemical, metallurgical, and ceramic/cement industries and US households (~95% of them use oil and ~ 80% natural gas for heating purposes).


Below we consider the ten-year-long anticipated impact of the broad implementation of our RCC, 3G HTS, and TCM-MSW technologies on the reduction of U.S. GHG emission.


RCC technology will assure continuous operation of 104 operating and the likely 45 projected nuclear power reactors that will annually generate about 2,000 Billion kWh of clean electricity, while the 45 new nuclear reactors and plants will decrease the total US GHG emission by 7.1% or ~ 20% electricity generation emission.


Coal power plants annually generate 6,602 Billion kWh or 58% of generated electricity of the US. These power plants consequently emit 23% of the greenhouse gases. About 25% of coal power plants have been in use for over 30 years. Therefore, if within the next ten years only 12% of coal power plant capacity would be replaced by TCM-MSW plants, they would annually generate 800 billion kW-h of relatively clean energy.


In 2009 the US Government started investing $54 billion for renewable energy sources. The TCM-MSW plants would generate electrical energy from municipal wastes, existing garbage dumps and landfills and other carbon content materials and wastes, and decrease GHG emissions by 75% in comparison with conventional combustion coal power plants and incinerators. This will result in decrease of US GHG emission by 2% and ~ 5% electricity related GHG emissions. Simultaneously there will be elimination of trash dumps and there will be clean air and improved city/town environments.


An application of 3GHTS-wire nanotechnology would save energy in all power generation, transmission, and end-use application systems of ~20%, which will result in corresponding decrease of GHG emission of power generation station that use coal or natural gas or oil. It will result in decrease of the US GHG emission by 6.4%.


An important field for GHG reduction is the transportation industry. Cars, freight transportation and airlines annually use about 8,000 billion kWh of oil energy, which consequently results in about 28% of the GHG emission in the US. The incorporation of 3G HTS technology allows production of 3G HTS electro-motors with costs, sizes and weights being > 5x less than the same for current mechanical engines. Additionally, superconductor magnetic electricity storage systems (SMES) can either substitute heavy and expensive batteries or reduce battery recharging time-period from 8 – 10 hours to 5 – 10 minutes in hybrid battery/SMES electricity storage systems.


This would result in customized and inexpensive 3G HTS electro-cars and hybrid cars that would run several hundred miles between electricity recharging points, for example, at existing highway gas stations. A somewhat similar system is presently being developed and installed in Israel.


Stable and decreased electricity cost as well as decreased cost, weight and size of electro-motors and simplicity of fast battery recharging will stimulate owners of public buses, commercial trucks and private cars to purchase inexpensive and reliable electric or hybrid vehicles. This will also make a revolutionary impact on the automotive and all associated industries and restore US auto manufacturing to its world status as leader.


If within the next ten years 30% of individual cars and other vehicles become electro-mobiles or hybrid cars, using recently invented ‘Hyperdrive’ transmission, they would annually consume 1,600 billion kWh. Required additional electricity would be produced by super-clean nuclear and relatively clean TCM-MSW power plants.


All of these will result in a reduction of 12% in oil consumption and about a 10% reduction in US GHG emission. Such reduction in oil consumption will allow America to exclude oil imports from Middle East countries, Venezuela, and Russia, which would positively impact on US safety, security, and economic stability.


The first ten-year-period of the broad implementation of RCC, 3G HTS, and TCM-MSW technologies in energy generation, transmission, and end-use application fields will result in total annual reduction in US greenhouse gas emissions by 25.5 %. Moreover, electricity will be able to replace over 12% of oil consumption of other vehicles, which would further significantly reduce the US oil imports. It should be anticipated that within the next twenty years the broad implementation of these alternative technologies will result in the total decrease of US GHG emissions by > 50% when hybrid- and electro-mobiles will totally replace diesel and gasoline fueled cars, trucks and buses. We believe that after the next ten years, RCC, 3G HTS-wire, and MSW-TCM technologies will fuel and energize America’s future. A broad implementation of the highly profitable RCC, 3G HTS-wire, and TCM-MSW technologies will reduce on > 15% GHG emissions and fossil fuel consumption in the U.S. for electricity generation, transmission and end-use including vehicles.


The prototyping stage of these projects is over and we are ready for the industrial implementation and commercialization stage. As showed conceptual design of the industrial plants, each one RCC, 3G HTS-wire, and TCM-MSW plant will cost about $50MM. This cost is 3 – 5x less than projected costs of any plant for corresponding competitive technologies. The annual return on the investments will be >500% for projected RCC and 3G HTS-wire plants and ~ 30% for one TCM-MSW unit but without municipal budget expenses.
